Since I have started playing Eve in mid 2008 and having a woman in my life that is a computer geek I myself have taken a partial liking to some of the geekness in the general computing world. This would explain why I run a HAF 932 Coolermaster tower with an Intel I7 2.66 ghz liquid cooled with a Danger Den cooling system and overclocked to 3.8 ghz, 1000w Corsair ps and Mushkin DDR3 12800 1600 RAM. Displaying the game of Eve is a Geforce nVidia 285 GTX vid card outputted to an LG W2486L 24 inch LED monitor.
I've been wanting to get a second monitor for quite some time and have been hym hawing around. Suffice it to say I can no longer find the monitor that I have anymore. I believe it has been discontinued. I could have gotten it but I backed off buying it. I get like that sometimes. I don't like to just start tossing money around. But if I do I go for good stuff. I'm also anal enough that if I am going to have two monitors I want them to be a matching identical pair. And since I can't get this LG anymore and since my birthday is coming the girlfriend has offered to buy me a new monitor.
Not needing a "new" monitor to replace this one if I was going to stay running one monitor I had to think about it. And what I decided was; if she's buying me one I can buy a match and do doubles. WIN!!!
Here are the little pretty's. I can't wait to get them. While they are 23 inch and my LG is a 24 I'll be setting both up at the same time. Eve will likely never look so good. These Dell monitors are IPS (in plane switching). They have much better color reproduction than TN ( twisted nematic) monitors which are what most monitors are. I'm not going to get all technical and specific between the two. Besides I'm a nub at this stuff. I only know what I read about them. The IPS panels have a slightly slower response rate than the TN monitors. But at 8ms for these Dells and numerous tests they do not ghost while gaming. And considering they work for fps games and Eve is the only gaming that I do I won't have any problems.
Fuck yeah baby! Screen real estate has me excited.

That rig sounds awesome. Lets see some pics! Also recommend looking into used 2407WFP's or 2407WFP-HC's. The forums at www.hardocp.com are a great place to look (as well as being a generally awesome forum for all things tech hardware). Also, if you aren't running folding@home on that beast you should be! Cancer wont cure itself you know :)
